Belt Test Information

Belts tests are conducted every approximately three months to four months at Level Up Karate. Students are invited to test based on their progression and understanding of Tang Soo Do, as well as, meeting the all of the necessary criteria necessary to progress forward. Students will be invited to test when their instructors feel they are ready. While regular attendance is required, testing eligibility is not restricted to any specific attendance plan.

We are committed to creating the best students possible, which often means challenging them to meet high expectations. It is our goal to make every test a great success, we will not invite students to test that we feel will not perform at their very best. That means that not all students will be invited to test each time. This is to keep our tests smaller and allow each student an opportunity to truly perform at their best level in front of their family, friends, and classmates.

Students should ready themselves by practicing their techniques, one steps, self defense, sparring, breaking and all forms. Students who work hard and demonstrate progress will find reward for their efforts.

Belt tests will be overseen by a panel of Master Black Belts, Black Belts, Level Up instructors and occasionally honored guests. Full traditional uniforms and belts are required and should be trimmed appropriately based on rank.

Students testing are required to bring all of their equipment (traditional uniform, sparring pads and weapons), failure to arrive fully prepared will result in having to wait until the next test period. We recommend arriving 15 to 20 minutes early to prepare yourself and to make sure nothing is left at home.
